1 78 Million Facebook Users May Die This Year 2011

1 78 Million Facebook Users May Die This Year 2011

Does Facebook really have more than 500 million "active" users?

According to data from digital-legacy planning firm Entrustet, a big portion of these users will soon no longer be considered "active," by any reasonable measure. The company compared Facebook usership data with average death rates from the Center for Disease Control, and discovered that this year, around 480,000 Facebook users may pass away in the U.S., and 1.78 million worldwide. These figures are only likely to grow year to year, especially as Facebook expands pass the 600 million user mark.

So many profiles now fall out of the range of an "active" user. Beyond the deceased, there are endless duplicate accounts--Entrustet found that 150% of 20- to 24-year-olds in the U.S. are on Facebook--not exactly a plausible tally. Whats more, a recent Gartner report estimated that in the coming years, roughly one in every ten of your friends on Facebook and other social networks will be nonhuman, meaning theyll be "social bots," automated profiles created by brands and organizations to engage consumers.

A Marine Left 30 000 People Speechless When He Did THIS By 1 48 I Was In Tears!

A Marine Left 30 000 People Speechless When He Did THIS By 1 48 I Was In Tears!

A Marine Left 30,000 People Speechless When He Did THIS. By 1:48, I Was In Tears!

When veteran Marine Corps Sgt. Dan Clark stood up in front of over 30,000 people in Fenway park during the seventh-inning stretch, I had no idea he was going to do something this incredible.

In Game 1 of the 2013 world series, the Boston Red Sox were playing the St. Louis Cardinals; the Sox were already way in the lead so the crowd was slowly losing interest. That’s when one brave Marine stepped out onto the field and performed one of the most beautiful and exciting versions of my second-favorite patriotic song of all time. The first, of course, being the Star-Spangled Banner.

The song itself has a lot of history to it, originally written by Irving Berlin in 1918, it differs from other patriotic songs due to the fact that it takes the form of a prayer. Then, in 1938, he revised his song, and it was brought into the limelight when singer Kate Smith performed it. As Hitler was gaining more momentum in Europe, Smith provided a sobering introduction before she sung:

“While the storm clouds gather far across the sea / Let us swear allegiance to a land that’s free / Let us all be grateful for a land so fair / As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.”

This patriotic song has been celebrated by Americans since WWII — and for good reason. Its thankfulness and appreciation for our great country is truly expressed in the poetic words of Berlin. And with a Marine singing it during the seventh-inning stretch of a World Series game… Well, you really can’t get much more American than that, can you?

What did you think of Clark’s version of the song? When he hit that note at the 1:48 mark I just had to stand up!

Please SHARE this amazing song with your patriotic friends and family!
